Postpartum Care

After your baby comes, I will visit in person and over the phone within the first few days of your baby's life and will see you again at 2 and 6 weeks or as needed. I remain available to you and your new baby, throughout your 6 week recovery period.

Why Choose a Midwife?

The word “Midwife” means with the wife.  Historically midwives have nurtured women and their families during the childbearing year.  They believe that pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes that work best if left alone with support and compassion, unless there is a need to correct a problem.  The modern midwife strives to continue this loving tradition while encompassing the education, technology and advances in testing and assessments when needed.

Having a midwife care for you can give you the best opportunity to experience a beautiful pregnancy, an empowering birth and happier postpartum.  You will develop a trusting relationship with your midwife and she will be available to you by phone or visit as needed. You will have continuity of your care throughout the entire process that will be a blessing for you and your baby.  A midwife respects the family, the mother and also the baby, and believes that a baby has feelings and a soul that should be honored. She believes that a baby belongs in a mother’s arms, and encourages the normal bonding that occurs in a birth that is family centric.
