My Story

I attended my first birth with my mother at 11 years old and at 13, began attending home births to tend my baby brother while she supported and tended to the laboring woman. As I grew, she provided me with opportunities to serve as an assistant to her. By watching my mother, I learned the importance of when to sit back and watch and when to step into the birth process, I saw first hand the traditional art of midwifery being practiced.

Women are powerful and capable and do amazing things including rising through incredible sorrows and sacrifices, physical discomforts, and create a love and joy so powerful it is utterly beyond description.

When pursuing my midwifery education and licensure, I was led to obtain a midwifery degree from National College of Midwifery, in addition to the traditional hands on experience in the apprenticeship model. Throughout my education, I held onto the “art of midwifery” that had been my example. I had the opportunity to study with women that mentored me to achieve the perfect balance of traditional midwifery and modern applications.

I believe that where and how you birth, is a defining experience in your life.  My goal is to support you to have the best possible birth and that you become empowered and proud of yourself through this experience.
